9. CERTIFICATION OF EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES INVENTORYDescription Chapter 1013, F. S., requires each School Board to certify by each April 1st that its educational facilities data within the Florida Inventory of School Houses is current and accurate. The district's data has been updated by the Construction Services' Plan Room to reflect all changes since the 2013 certification.

APPROVAL OF THE CONTRACT BETWEEN CHILDREN'S THERAPY WORKS AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDADescription The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act IDEA (2004) requires school districts to set aside a proportional share of their Federal IDEA funds to provide services to students with disabilities enrolled in private schools by their parent including McKay Scholarship students. The services most requested by private schools are speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy. Since the district does not have direct hire staff available to provide these services, contract with private vendors like Children's Therapy Works are being implemented to meet this requirement. The total contract amount not to exceed $85,000.00.
Recommendation That the contract between Children's Therapy Works and the School Board of Sarasota County, Florida be approved as presented.
11. APPROVAL OF SARASOTA COUNTY SCHOOLS PURCHASE OF PHASE 2.1 DESKTOP AND NOTEBOOK COMPUTERS AND SERVICES FROM HEWLETT-PACKARD COMPANYDescription
Hewlett-Packard company has provided Sarasota County Schools with a comprehensive product and services program to procure desktop and notebook computers utilizing the State of Colorado, Department of Human Services RFP #NC91001100ITS. This provides ongoing asset management, deployment logistics, warranty and repair support, and service management.
This agreement provides the district with a turnkey leasing solution for computer replenishment that proves the best of product and services. It is based on a 4-year lease for equipment utilization, management, warranty, repair and support. Key benefits of this agreement are:
This effort is year 1 of a 4-year plan for computer refresh and deployment district-wide, and prepares Sarasota schools to meet the Common Core standards for digital testing requirements for 2015.
Computers removed from the schools involved in this phase and less than 6 years of age will be deployed to other District schools. All computers greater than 6 years old will be first made available for our Texcellence program prior to releasing them to a recycler for disposal. Computers less than 6 years old will be redeployed to schools planned for future phases.
Recommendation
That the lease proposal from Hewlett-Packard Company be approved for award and purchase with a not to exceed value of $10M, and grant the Chair authorization to execute final lease documents.

12. APPROVAL OF THE THURGOOD GRANT PROPOSAL TO THE EDUCATION FOUNDATION FOR VENICE HIGH SCHOOLDescription COMPETITIVE: Grant funds of $6,246 will allow Venice High School students to attend a theatrical production about Thurgood Marshall which connects to the Social Studies curriculum.

APPROVAL OF THE CTE CONNECT GRANT PROPOSAL TO THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR FOR BOOKER, NORTH PORT AND VENICE HIGH SCHOOLSDescription COMPETITIVE: Grant funds of over $3.6 million will support Booker, North Port and Venice High Schools' Career Academies (Applied Engineering Technology, Hospitality Management and Allied Health Assisting) while addressing the U.S. Department of Labor's goal to decrease the number of H-1B visas issued in high-need areas.

This bid is for a period of one year with the option to renew for two additional one-year periods. APPROVAL OF GUARANTEED MAXIMUM PRICE CONSTRUCTION MANAGER AT RISK CONTRACT FOR THE BAY HAVEN SCHOOL OF BASICS PLUS ADDITION AND RENOVATION PROJECTDescription This contract initiates "Phase I - Long Lead Time Items with Procurement" contractually covering the items required to be purchased and the scope of construction work required to commence prior to the remainder of the project completing Design and Procurement. The project's complete scope of work shall include Construction Management at Risk Services for the addition of new Kitchen, "Cafetorium", Media Center, four Skills Laboratories, Custodial Receiving, Music Classroom Suite, and the relative adjacent common spaces. This project also includes substantial sitework, relocation of the existing bus loop and parking lot, demolition of the existing buildings being replaced, and removal of five existing portables. The project will be multi-phased with the remaining phases executed via change orders amending this contract. The total construction budget is approximately $8,300,000.00. 32. APPROVAL OF 179D ALLOCATION AGREEMENT AND PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT WITH WILLIS A. SMITH CONSTRUCTION, INC. FOR SCTI AND BOOKER HIGH SCHOOL PROJECTSDescription As part of the Energy Policy Act of 2005, Congress enacted Section 179D of the Internal Revenue Code in order to encourage the efficient design and construction of new or rehabilitated projects. The program allows tax exempt government building owners to allocate potential Section 179D deductions for energy efficient building envelope, HVAC or interior lighting systems to taxpayers. Contractors and material suppliers (tax payers) may apply for the full federal income tax deduction available under the 179D program. While the Sarasota County School Board cannot participate in the income tax recovery, the district requires that fifteen percent (15%) of the recovered income tax amount be paid to the district in return for assistance in obtaining the income tax deduction.

38. APPROVAL/DENIAL OF THE CHARTER RENEWAL APPLICATION FOR IMAGINE SCHOOL AT PALMER RANCHDescription The Charter for Imagine School at Palmer Ranch expires on June 30, 2014. Pursuant to F.S. 1002.33(8) the School Board must notify the school 90 days prior to the end of the contract if, due to statutory reasons, the Charter will not be renewed. The school and district staff have provided the Board with data and comments related to the school's application at the February 18 and March 18, 2014 Board Work Sessions. If the renewal application is approved, a new Charter will be negotiated and brought to the Board for approval.

Minutes: Caroline Zucker said she was glad to see HB67 killed which would have meant all Florida high school students would start the school day at 8:00 a.m. which would have been transportation cost prohibitive. She said we need to watch SB1630 which would offer corporation tax scholarships, which could take away from public schools $800M over the next five years. Also we need to watch the charter school bill which will take away local authority.
Jane Goodwin announced that she will be traveling to Tallahassee to meet with our local legislators this week. She also reminded the public that the referendum vote is March 25 and encouraged everyone to get out and vote.
Shirley Brown announced that the Youth Arts Fest will take place this Saturday, March 22 at Five Points downtown from 9:00a - 2:00p. Adjournment40. ADJOURNMENTDescription N/A
